Many women are unhappy with their breast size and desire an enhancement.
Breast augmentation is an elective surgical procedure that improves breast size, shape, symmetry, and projection through the use of medical-grade implants or fat transfer. It is also sometimes referred to as breast enhancement.
The implants are composed of a silicone shell that contains either saline solution or silicone gel. A vast array of implant sizes, textures, and shapes are available at Premier Plastic Surgery Center in Charlotte so that you can find the ideal implant for your unique aesthetic preferences, all under one roof. With carefully chosen breast implants or natural fat grafting, you can have fuller breasts that enable you to feel more feminine, look more proportional, and fit better in your preferred styles of swimwear, brassiere, and clothing.
Breast augmentation is not synonymous with a breast lift – in fact, they are two different procedures that produce different results. Breast augmentation involves implants to increase breast volume, while a breast lift is designed to restore perkiness to the breasts without the use of implants.
The ideal candidate has a positive self-image and desires an increase in bust size.
You must be healthy enough, both mentally and physically, to undergo elective surgery. While implants can greatly improve the size and profile of pre-operative breasts, it is important to have realistic expectations. For example, extremely large implants may not be suitable for flat-chested individuals with tight skin, which can look unnatural. If breast sagging is also present, a breast lift with implants is typically the best approach.
Estimates vary, but you should expect the breast augmentation procedure to last at least one hour. The recovery time for breast augmentation can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Even then, after only a few days, you should be able to return back to your daily routines as before the surgery.
At Premier Plastic Surgery Center in Charlotte breast augmentation is used as it is among one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the world today. Dr. Ferrari inserts either saline-filled or silicone breast implants under the crease of the breast, around the nipple or through the armpit. He places the implants under the breast tissue or beneath the pectoral muscle. After your breast augmentation surgery, breasts will appear fuller and more shapely. Incision scars will fade over time.
If you are unhappy with sagging in the breast area due to age or breast feeding, a breast lift may be the right option for you. If your breasts are asymmetrical or you are interested in increasing their size, you may wish to consider a breast augmentation. Breast augmentation can often be done in conjunction with a breast lift as well, if this is part of your overall desired appearance.
Your breast augmentation procedure is tailor-made to suit your needs. We can offer you a wide range of FDA-approved materials, from saline to silicone to gummy bear, and everything in between. Not sure which implant to go with? Don’t worry—Dr. Ferrari is happy to review all of the choices with you!
The breast augmentation procedure is widely known for helping boost confidence*, while also helping to make sure that the body maintains a proportionate figure. When you sit down with Dr. Ferrari for a confidential and personalized consultation, you can discuss the various breast augmentation options available and any other thoughts or concerns you might have about the procedure. If you decide to move forward, we will begin with a preliminary examination, your photos will be taken, and you will be given ample opportunity to raise any questions you might have.
The types of breast augmentation incisions include:
The most versatile and popular incision method involves a horizontal scar that is discreetly located in the inframammary crease. This allows placement of implants of nearly any size, depending on your preferences. In addition, when the inframammary scar fades, it is virtually invisible unless you look closely. As an added benefit, nearly all clothing and swimsuit styles conceal the scar.
Through an incision hidden near the armpit (axilla), this incision allows placement of implants of a small to moderate size without leaving any scars on the breasts. While there is a limit to the size of implants that can be placed using this technique, it remains a popular option due to the extremely discrete nature of the scars. Transaxillary implant placement is also beneficial for patients with a known history of keloid scarring or hyperpigmented scars. While poor scarring can occur in patients of all skin tones, this method is sometimes called the Asian Breast Augmentation due to its popularity among Asian women with a higher risk of keloid scar formation.
With a circumferential incision along the margin of the areola, periareolar incisions allow implants of a modest size into the breast pocket. Some patients elect to have periareolar breast augmentation as they find the dark pigmentation of the areola hides the resulting scar. Patients who have light-colored areola, a history of hypertrophic scarring, or desire a large increase in bust size are usually not good candidates for this technique.
While it is possible to place implants through an incision hidden in the folds of the navel, this is the least popular technique. The primary benefit is that the scar is extremely well hidden and placed far away from the breasts themselves, therefore not raising any eyebrows for patients concerned about keeping their augmented breasts a secret. However, implant malposition is more likely to occur since the surgeon does not visualize the breast pocket well. Many other techniques offer similar advantages with fewer risks; thus, this method is rarely used today.
Though it is not really possible to have absolutely no discomfort after surgery, Charlotte plastic surgeon Dr. Ferrari’s techniques at Premier Plastic Surgery Center now make it possible to minimize discomfort after the procedure and during recovery so that you can return to normal activities sooner.
Over the years, after thousands of procedures, he has perfected the procedure now known as “Quick Recovery Breast Augmentation.”
Thanks to techniques he pioneered and perfected, our breast augmentation surgeries don’t look like implants or “fakes.” You owe it to yourself to have gorgeous, natural-looking breasts. And with Dr. Ferrari, that desire can become a reality.

Dr. Ferrari determines pricing based on several factors.
Cost of breast augmentation can vary widely. The type of the implant, surgical technique, and whether the breasts have been previously augmented tend to have the biggest impact on cost. Generally speaking, above-muscle implants tend to cost less than implants requiring submuscular or dual plane dissection. Saline implants are the most affordable type of breast implant. Anatomic implants (also called gummy bear or teardrop implants) may cost slightly more than round silicone implants.
