What to Expect After A Blepharoplasty

Dr. Ferrari will use local anesthesia for upper eyelid surgery so you will not experience any pain or discomfort.

For your lower eyelid surgery, which is a little more intensive, Dr. Ferrari will use either local anesthesia with sedation, or he might use general anesthesia to ensure you are absolutely comfortable during the procedure

You can expect some degree of swelling and bruising after your blepharoplasty procedure. In most Charlotte eyelid lift patients, after blepharoplasty surgery, the swelling goes down around two weeks. Any pain or discomfort can be easily addressed with pain medication. Dr. Ferrari also recommends that any kind of heavy lifting or other intensive activities be avoided for a few weeks post your blepharoplasty surgery. You will also be provided with detailed guidelines on what steps you can take to speed up the healing process.

Lower eyelid surgery is a little more intensive and involves a greater degree of swelling, so a few more days of rest may be necessary before you can get back to work.
